I came across Bruno Levy at the 2012 Vimeo Awards and instantly made a new friend.  Creative, artistic and a very likable guy.  We talk about his award winning video “Sweatshoppe” how he and his creative partner (Blake Shaw) came up with the idea and the process behind it.  We also cut up a bit about the future of video and what it means living as an artist.   Fun chat.

New media art duo SWEATSHOPPE aka Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy are back from Europe with a new video that showcases their live interactive video wheatpaste in Berlin, Bristol, Belgrade, London and Paris. Over a two week period the duo pasted their videos in over 10 spots including the Berlin Wall, Les Invalides, Cordy House and even constructed a 5 meter telescopic electronic paint roller to create a two-story tall video painting in Bristol.

Video painting is a technology the duo developed that allows them to create the illusion that they are painting videos onto walls with electronic paint rollers they built. It works through custom software that they wrote that tracks the position of the paint rollers and projects video wherever they choose to paint, allowing them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture and create live video collages in real time.

First met Tom Maxwell at a fundraiser for Snüzz, a friend and fellow musician of Tom’s. It was one of those amazing nights of music and community that I’m so glad that I was able to attend and capture the evening. Tom is one of those cats when he talks you just shut up and listen…not because he demands it or is a jerk. He has a command of the modern English dialect that is just plain fun.

Conversation with Filmmaker Nick Gaglia

After I saw the film “Over the GW,” I was so blown away by the film that I looked for Nick on Facebook and added him as a friend, mentioning that I just saw his film and wanted to follow him on FB. Yeah, I know. That sounds a bit stalkish, but I did mention that I am a fellow filmmaker. Nick talks openly about his experience as a patient of an abusive, cult-like, drug-rehabilitation center and how that turned into an award winning film and kick started his career.

ToddI met Todd through another filmmaker friend, Ajit Anthony Prem. Our brief introduction left an impression on him…he casted me to play a bruiser in his newest film Southland of the Heart. I accepted and was part of magic that day. Not the kind of magic that I create but the magic of a crew all participating to make the film the best it can be. I was and am in awe of the film. I saw a assemble edit and was very impressed with the acting and storytelling. Simply a beautiful American story.

Todd Tinkham longed to write and direct films since he was a boy growing up in a small fishing community in Massachusetts. But it would take years of working with at-risk teens, mentally ill adults, and incarcerated men, before Tinkham would ever make his first film.

Todd Tinkham founded TinkhamTown Productions in 2005 after losing both of his parents to cancer in 2004. Realizing that his parents had never really pursued their dreams, Todd decided that he could not wait any longer. “After my folks died, I realized that I wasn’t going to live forever, and that if I wanted to go after my dreams, I’d better start now.”

Upcoming Conversation with Independent Filmmaker Todd Tinkham

Todd Tinkham is an accomplish Independent filmmaker from Hillsborough, NC. He type casted me in his film and I enjoyed every second being on his set. His crew was some of the most professional and kind that I’ve worked with. It felt like a close knit family and everyone was helping each other. So far, Todd Tinkham’s films have screened at more than 250 film festivals in the past 3 years.

Upcoming Conversation with Director William Hellmuth

Thursday evening east coast time William Hellmuth is going to join me in a podcast talking about directing and web series stuff. It should be a great podcast. If you don’t know who William Hellmuth is, please venture over to webserials.com and check out The Black Dawn a very cool sci-fi suspense thriller chopped up into 24 episodes for the web. The first episode hooks you in and carries you through an exciting web series. As far as a creator of a web series myself, I really admire the hard work and design webserials has created for itself.

Here is William’s demo reel…
